Big Reveal: My Podcast Cover + Your Chance to be a Guest!
The mic is hot and the cover art is 🔥! If you're a self-published author with a story to tell or an industry pro with hot tips, this is your chance to join me on my new show!
In this week’s newsletter, I’ll give you:
🔪 PODCAST NEWS - The unveiling of my new podcast cover AND an invite for indie authors (current or former!) and industry pros to come talk to me on my podcast, Traditionally Self-Published. This is set to launch in September!
🔪 Adding to my summer reading hopefuls this week is All Body Bags and No Knickers by Shawe Ruckus.
🔪 What I’m (still) reading this week: Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan.
Stop gatekeeping. Start sharing. This is YOUR chance to help other indie authors!
Being an author can be a very lonely and quiet place. If you think about it though, it is by design. You need that space to create and distractions can and will keep you from finishing your story. But there are times when you will find that you have questions or want to learn about other authors and the processes they use. This is where you need to emerge from your writing cave and seek out help. This is how we grow. We continue to learn from others. Our brains process this information and then we have a chance to decide what we can use from that experience and what does not fit.
For me, this was easier said than done. I have a hard time asking questions for fear someone will look at me like I don’t know what I’m doing. Maybe I don’t. But I’m at the point of my life where I also no longer care about what others think. I NEED to learn in order to become a better writer and I want to share those learnings with whomever will listen.
I have a desire, not to go viral, but to be heard. Don’t we all feel this? I want to know that when I leave this earth, that somehow my writing will have helped someone. Maybe even entertained them. Perhaps transformed them in some way. In order to do that, I have to continue to hone my craft and know that I will get there one book at a time, one page at a time.
I have so many questions and I’m going to ask every single one of them on my podcast so that you can grow with me too. Besides, what is knowledge, if it can’t be shared with the world?
Last month, I announced the making of my podcast, Traditionally Self-Published and now I need YOUR help! My show kicks off in September and I would LOVE to interview other indie authors and industry pros!
If you are an indie author (or an author that once was an indie author and went trad or vice versa) OR you’re an industry pro who has a passion for:
sharing knowledge with others
publishing like a professional
love talking about your books
drinks coffee and knows things
Then we NEED to talk! And here is your chance to share what you know with other indie authors, like me, who want to learn from the best. Thriller, sci-fi- fantasy, romantasy…whatever your genre is, I am curious about you and the work that you do. And the readers want to know about your books, so what is there to lose?
Get ready to grow with me! No matter where you are in the writing cycle, there is sure to be something new you will learn along the way.
I’m also looking for industry professionals to help!
If you are a narrator, cover artist, marketer, influencer, etc., please also consider sending me a pitch to be on the podcast. I would love to ask questions and have you be a guest.
I have been hard at work prepping the back-to-school kickoff with a couple of very savvy and knowledgable editors and can’t wait to share their best tips and strategies with you!
But what if I’m a reader?
Readers, I haven’t forgotten about you. You are the bloodline of every writer. Without your support, we would not be writers!
If you love behind-the-scenes, this show will be fun for you, as well. Trust me! You will learn about new-to-you indie authors and some that you may already know. I will be asking them all about their books and may even have a chance for you to submit your questions ahead of the interview so you can get them answered. You’ll get to take a peek under the hood and see all the nuts and bolts about what actually goes into producing a book.
My podcast will be available widely (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc) when it launches in September, so stay tuned for exact dates!
🔦 Author Spotlight:
Each week, I will be spotlighting an author! This may be one that has an I’m reading or one that I have personally read. This is my way to support authors and introduce you to authors you may not have heard of yet!
Another week, another book to add to my growing pile of to-be-reads! This week I am adding All Body Bags and No Knickers by Shawe Ruckus. The title on this one is what got me…I mean, come on!
I’ve just started Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan for the book club meetup I’m attending later this month. I’m very excited to get into this book as I have heard so many great things. I have never seen the movie, but I may have to give that a try as well after I’m done reading!
If you're ever curious about what I’m reading, you can follow me on Bookbubor Goodreads where I post what I’m reading and reviewing, or sometimes via socials on IG and FB!
Until next time, Night Crew…
My books:
You can find my book, DEEP IN THE WOODS, at any indie bookstore, your local library, Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, Audible or where ever you like to get your books. (if you don’t see it on the shelf in a brick and mortar, just call them and ask them to order it for you!) And to those that have taken the time to read and review my book, thank you! It means the world to me.
Small towns are full of secrets. In this small town, some of those secrets are buried deep…
Excited for your pod launch, Mica!
How exciting. I'd love to be on to talk as an author as well as an indie publisher. And Jayne Marshall would also be an engaging conversation about her book.
